GUESS WHO GOT TO SEE MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE LIVE??? THIS GAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD IT WAS SO AMAZING I CANT POSSIBLY PUT IT INTO WORDS. THE LONG LIVE THE BLACK PARADE PERFORMANCE WAS SO FUCKING INCREDIBLE. I NEED TO SEE GERARD ACT IN MORE STUFF BECAUSE HE ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT. GET THIS MAN IN A MOVIE RIGHT NOW. EEEEEEEEEEEEEK I STILL HAVE NOT RECOVERED.
Okay I'm forcing myself to turn off caps lock now. But Sunday night was literally magical. I went with two of my friends + my friend's friends. All reallyyyy cool people btw, I stayed the night with them so we could get to the concert super early and we were all so giddy it felt like christmas eve. The stadium opened at 4 pm and we got there at 11. It was hot and dry as HELL but it was SO worth it because we got SO close to the stage. I have the most dogshit eyesight but I could practically see Frank's nose hairs from where I was standing. Just incredible.
The first opener was an Argentinian band called Nenagenix. I didn't know of them beforehand but I loved their performance, I really need to check their music out. Sidenote but the lead singer is exaggeratedly beautiful and had an insane stage presence, aside from having a spectacular voice ofc. I was mesmerized watching them perform. The second openers were the Hives! I only knew a few of their songs but it was such a fun show. Pelle Almqvist was such a good sport, he spoke in Spanish the whole time and I thought that was really sweet. He kept asking if we were preparados (ready) and if we were preparidos (word that doesn't exist but is now a part of my vocabulary). The moshing did get a little crazy and many people started backing away from the front, my friend and I got separated from the rest of our group at this point but we ended up at an even better spot right in the middle so I'm not complaining.
THEN MR BLUE SKY STARTED PLAYING OMG. We lost our shit. It wasn't even MCR playing it was literally just the recorded song but we were so excited we yelled the whole thing at the top of our lungs. I love that song so much, I'm so glad they opened with it. Reminds me of megamind. Anyways that ended and boom MICHAEL ROMANCE WALKS ONSTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! During the first half of the show they played the DRAAG bit in their black parade personas, and after that it became a regular concert. I love that they did that because we got the best of both worlds, we got to see them act but we also got Gerard talking to the audience as his normal self. He started talking about the Sopranos at one point. In every concert clip I see of him he's just talking about whatever bullshit crosses his mind at the given moment. I love him he is such a dad.
All hell broke loose during the first half of the black parade. The mosh at the start of dead! that followed into how i disappear and the sharpest lives nearly killed us. Things briefly calmed down and then the INSTANT the iconic G note played, all hell broke loose again. Emos are like Pavlov's dogs but instead of sallivating at the sound of a bell it's a piano note. The entire show from start to finish was PHENOMENAL but the absolute highlight for me was my favorite song MAMA!!! I literally said "play mama or I'll kms" and in true Y/N fashion Gerard must've heard me specifically amongst the crowd of tens of thousands of people because 5 seconds later they started playing mama and my soul LEFT my body. I got it on video and it might be the funniest thing I've ever recorded.
Then I ran out of storage, so all i managed to record of my favorite lyric was a shitty whatsapp audio, which might be the second funniest thing I've ever recorded.
I unfortunately couldn't record much else because as I said my phone storage was 100% full even though i literally deleted everything I even deleted the samsung browser. But they started throwing FIRE BALLS in the sky and on stage. One of the speakers caught on fire. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. The fire balls were so high up but you could feel the heat on your face as if you were right up on them. I had to fight tooth and nail to survive the mosh pit but it was the most beautiful moment of my life. The bit at the end with Sylvia where Gerard breaks down crying was the pinnacle of the whole night for me. As Mama ended and Sleep began, I started sobbing like a baby. I just couldn't believe I was witnessing all this.
And I haven't even mentioned BLOOD. Oh my god. I mean what do I even have to say. Just look at the pictures. WHAT AN ENDING to an incredible performance of an incredible album. The rest of the show was just as awesome. THEY PLAYED TO THE END!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS!!!! TWENTY!!!!! HOW LUCKY ARE WE!!!! They also played Give em hell kid and I almost fainted, it's one of my fav songs and I wasn't expecting them to play it bc they'd already played it in Peru. Thank you guys.
Not to brag but Gerard said this was gonna be a really memorable show for them. That's Argentina for you baby. Also he said "bonita, gracias bonita" and I'm sorry to everyone else but he said it to me and me specifically.
But in all seriousness this show made my respect for MCR skyrocket. This year the band will turn 25 years old. I think about other artists with careers that long who don't care anymore, show up onstage intoxicated to give a half-assed performance and are clearly just still doing it for the money. Meanwhile MCR is creating detailed lore and worldbuilding, giving the craziest theatrical performances and putting their entire emussys into it. And how Gerard's vocals and presence are just as strong as two decades ago when he's nearly 50 is beyond me. I remember seeing him onstage and thinking how young he seemed (except when he turned around and you could see his little bald spot lol). And Ray was all smiles, he always looked sooo thrilled to be there. I genuinely think they might be some of the greatest artists of our generation.
It's been two days and I'm still thinking about it. How blessed we are to be alive for this.
