the minecraft movie
As it was to be expected this blows. But going to the theater to watch it was fun. Way more fun than the actual movie. I made mob heads for my friends and I to wear and a few people asked to take pictures with us, we felt like celebrities. Making those heads also gave me an excuse to buy a hot glue gun!! which I've been dreaming of since i was a 7 year old watching arts and crafts tutorials. Notice how I haven't mentioned anything about the movie yet? yeah bc it sucked. I did laugh, mostly at the sheer sexual tension between steve and garrett the garbage man. Steve rides him and pulls on his hair while flying and says "just relax, let my hips guide you" and then he turns around and they 69. I am not joking. But you probably aready knew this because you saw every single clip on tiktok. I don't have tiktok so I experienced it all for the first time in the theater and CHICKEN JOCKEY almost killed me on sight. still gets a higher rating than the royal tenenbaums.

zoolander
I had to watch another Ben Stiller movie as a palate cleanser after the dumpster fire that was the royal tenenbaums. I liked it, it was fun. I felt oddly maternal towards derek zoolander for some reason. idk everyone was just so mean to him and he was trying his best and wanted to help children and stuff. I love myself a himbo and this delivered. And the catwalk battle against owen wilson with DAVID freaking BOWIE moderating was pure gold. A few of the jokes haven't aged the best but it was still a fun time.

wowww this was disappointing. first off, was nobody gonna tell me there was incest in this? why did not a single one of those 5 star + heart reviews on letterboxd mention incest. Siblings kissing aside, it was boringggg. I was watching it at night and I had to pause it midway through, go to bed and continue the next day. I'd never seen a wes anderson film before this but I'd assumed there would be more to it than just that cute indie aesthetic everyone tries to copy for their instagram photos. no. it was just like a slideshow of cool looking screenshot moments. The dialogue is so ??? like i get it's a stylistic choice but it feels like they're sacrificing the quality of the writing to make it quirky. The characters are barely developed and there's so many of them. Ben Stiller's line at the end would've probably hit so hard if i gave a shit about literally any of these people. The performances were really good but that wasn't enough to save the movie for me. Did I mention there's incest in this. WHY IS THERE INCEST??? I genuinely don't get why people love this movie so much. Fuck this movie.

little miss sunshine
OH. MY. GOD. IS THIS MOVIE ENDEARING. There's so much to love about it. First of all Steve Carrell. I have two dads: my actual real dad and Steve Carrell. Paul Dano is incredible in this film too, his facial expressions killed me in every scene he was in. Dwayne and Frank's dynamic means EVERYTHING to me. AND OLIVE oh my god this child deserves the world. I can't possibly put into words the way this movie makes me feel. I am banging my head against the wall. LIFE CHANGING. If you're having a bad day watch this i implore you trust me you will not regret this. The fucking scene with the ice cream and the final dance scene are the two best things ever put to film. Everyone should stop making movies because we've already peaked with little miss sunshine.
also paul dano and the emo kid from horton hears a who look exactly the same and they have the exact same character arc and i just think that's neat.

I watched this at the theater with my friends. It's been on my watchlist for a while and I'm so glad I got to experience it on the big screen, it was literally out of this world. Really makes you feel so small and vulnerable in this incomprehensibly huge universe, it's like you're out there floating in space with them.
I got really emotional at some points. My dad is the person I'm closest to and in a way he's the only "real" family I have left, so Cooper and Murph's relationship felt so viscerally real to me and I could feel Murph's pain full force.
Honestly this is what it's really all about. We don't fully understand what love is or why it is. But despite it we love, and we do it unconditionally and without questioning it. We might never understand it and all we can do is stand in awe of it. Maybe that's why we were put on this universe, to love....
My friend has a quack sound effect as his notification sound and right when Matt Damon exploded he got a text and the completely silent theater lost their shit laughing. By far my favorite part of the movie.
Also b4 the movie started we got a trailer for that new upcoming robert pattinson clone movie. He was so HOT in that trailer and bong joon-ho is directing it so I'm def watching it when it comes out.
