Meet the gang! the main characters of the game are a tight-knit friend group comprised of:

Sal Fisher (a.k.a Sally Face)

An incident from his childhood resulted in the death of his mother and left his face badly scarred, that’s why he wears a prosthetic. He is 3 apples tall and he has a gigantic maine coon therapy cat named Gizmo whom he spoils rotten. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER!!! To see me ramble endlessly about him like a maniac check the SAL tab.

Larry Johnson

Sal’s best bro. A super laid back chill dude but also very protective of his friends. He's very loyal and surprisingly emotionally intelligent. The tenants of Addison apartments seem to have mixed opinions of him. It’s never really said explicitly that he’s a stoner but I mean look at him. He's a huge fan of metal (got it from his dad) and he’s the one who introduced Sal to it. He also loves painting :) Absolute GOAT of the game and part of my dream blunt rotation.

Todd Morrison

The brains of the group. He's very passionate about technology and the paranormal. Freakishly smart and always looking to learn new stuff. He's a bit socially awkward but really chill. He has a boyfriend, Neil, who is comically normal compared to these four. Yes they are called Neil and Todd like dead poets society and I don’t know if that’s on purpose but if it is then that’s just mean.

Ashley Campbell

The group skeptic. She is kinda out of touch with emotions/ boundaries but is still super sweet and supportive of her friends and she always means well. She loves art, her dream job is being an art teacher and she’s the one who taught Larry everything he knows about painting. She is so cool and beautiful but she pissed me off a few times on my playthroughs ngl. Still love her tho you will never catch me hating on my girl. Like she rides a motorbike.that's so badass.

MY FAVORITE GUY EVAAA!!!!!!!! SCRIMBLO FROM MY GAMES!!!!!!! I am NOT normal about him I cannot speak about him and sound sane at the same time but i will try my best.

First of all he looks cool as fuck. We should stop designing characters altogether because peak character design was already reached with the creation of this 5 '2 michael myers hatsune miku looking dude. He is so difficult but sooo fun to draw and the obsession I have with him has forced me to learn anatomy against my will.

But he doesn’t just look cool as fuck he IS cool as fuck too!!! He is THE kindest sweetest friendliest most loving guy ever. Bro has no enemies*. He has befriended literally everyone around him. He’s friends with his entire apartment complex, he’s friends with ghosts, he’s friends with the homophobic homosexual that used to bully him relentlessly. It’s simply impossible not to love this guy HE IS THE BEST EVER. And the way he TALKS ABOUT HIS FRIENDS he loves them so much and is so thankful for the people in his life I’m gonna throw up.

He’s the definition of an unbothered king. He just does whatever he likes, dresses however he likes and pays no mind to anyone who is shitty to him. The type of guy to lowkey feel bad for bullies because he knows they’re just insecure. In fact the nickname Sally Face was originally given to him by bullies but he reclaimed it so they couldn’t use it against him (slay of the century). He gets made fun of and he doesn’t give a shit it’s like water off a ducks back. He’s just chad striding his way through life being unapologetically kind and genuine regardless of everything and without expecting anything in exchange.

He’s also completely unconcerned with gender norms which I personally think is rad. My androgynous icon with blue hair and pronouns I love you so so so so much.

• The first chapters of the game canonically take place in the early 90s but lowkey I like to imagine it’s the early 2010s instead. In which case Ash is really into twilight and they all have a nintendo 3DS.
• Sal is that one friend who asks to braid your hair whenever he's bored. It's his love language okay he WILL make you feel bonita.
• Sal and Larry both paint their nails black. The difference is that Sal is very patient and careful with it and Larry is NOT. He gets nail polish all over his fingers and never waits for it to dry and stains everything he touches.
• Larry is a little insecure about showing his art to Ash because he feels like he's not as good as her but she always hypes him up. It's really sweet.
• Ash gives me theater kid vibes. As a former theater kid myself this is the highest honor I can bestow upon a character.
• Gizmo is a maine coon, which if you don’t know is the biggest non-hybrid domestic cat breed and can reach up to 102cm in length. They also take around 4 years to reach their max size, unlike regular cats that only take 1. Sal adopted him as a kitten, and it kills me to imagine him and his dad watching horrified as he NEVER STOPPED GROWING. I imagine Henry being so irritated at the amount of cat food he had to buy or the amount of hair he would shed everywhere but eventually coming around to it. They definitely joked that he got so big because they fed him after midnight.
• Lisa, being both a hispanic mom and a janitor, obviously listens to certified hispanic mom cleaning classics. Because of this, Larry and Sal have been spotted around Addison apartments singing Chayanne, Luis Miguel, Ricardo Arjona, Ricky Martin, la oreja de van gogh etc etc etc loudly and with terrible pronunciation.
• Sal and Ash pierced their own ears. For some reason I don’t completely understand Larry strikes me as very squeamish so I think he’d be too terrified of needles to get any piercings or tattoos.
• I think it’s funny to have them be opposites in that sense. Larry (lover of gory movies and death metal bands with names like prolapsed intestine) gets a papercut and faints. Sal could slice his hand open with a rusty axe and calmly ask you for a band-aid.
• Todd is the designated IT guy of the group. Every time one of his friends has issues with their computer/phone they go to Todd even though the answer is almost always turn it off and on again. And Todd is super generous like if you give him your laptop bc the keyboard isn't working he'll give it back with the keyboard fixed, a new battery, upgraded RAM and the sims 2 with all DLCs pirated.
• Ash is big on DIY. Most of her clothes are upcycled, she makes her own accessories and she has customized all her converse shoes with sharpie. And she makes friendship bracelets for all her friends.
• Ash wears braces. Larry should but doesn't.
• Larry and Sal both have tinnitus from listening to music loud as hell 24/7. It's really funny seeing them talk to each other because they get stuck in loops of “hey” “what?” “what?” “what?” “WHAT??”
• He got used to it eventually, but as a kid Sal had awful depth perception and walked into walls and shit. Poor thing as if he hadn’t enough to worry about he’s also getting his shit rocked by lampposts.
• Sal is good friends with Travis, but the other 3 do NOT like him. Sal usually only brings him up in conversations with Todd because he’s the one who hates him the least. If you mention the T-word in front of Larry and Ash they immediately start side-eyeing you.
• Eventually they do try to become closer to Travis though. At first they all have a bit of a hard time getting along but it’s the thought that counts. They’re all just doing it for Sal really. They’re like divorced parents who treat each other cordially because of their kid, otherwise they’d start fistfighting.
• Idk why but I get ace vibes from Larry. He's still the token straight guy of the group though.
• As a kid they probably had Sal take those fuckass “draw a tree” “draw a house” “draw a person in the rain” psychological tests over and over again to the point where he memorized all the answers to draw the sanest tree possible and finally get them to stop. Years later he'd make his friends take them for fun and be like “hmmm the curtains in the windows of your house indicate an emotional blockage dude” “bro that was an AESTHETIC DECISION”
• Sal isn’t in contact with a few relatives on his mom’s side anymore because they blamed him for what happened AS IF IT WAS THE 8 YEAR OLD’S FAULT. Henry was in the worst mental space imaginable back then but still had the decency to tell them to go fuck themselves.
• Because of his family’s history with substance abuse, Sal doesn’t drink at all. Meaning he’s the one who takes care of the other 3 when they get drunk. He doesn’t mind, because he loves them, but my God he has seen them in deplorable states.
• Before moving to Nockfell, Henry told Sal “look, here’s a box of your mom’s clothes that I could never bring myself to throw out. Take everything you want and I’ll give the rest to your aunt.” And Sal kept a few coats, jackets, scarves, skirts and dresses. It was a sweet moment because Henry kept bringing up memories and going like “that looks good on you” “she wore that on our second date” “she bought that when we found out she was pregnant with you” “you remind me of her”. Why do i do this 2 myself im sad.
• I feel like back in New Jersey a big part of father-son bonding between Henry and Sal was going through it together. Late-night runs to the convenience store to buy instant ramen and staying up watching TV in silence together. Both being up late because of insomnia and night terrors and sitting together to have a coffee and a bowl of cereal at 3 am. Henry not having energy to cook and feeling bad for only making Sal a grilled cheese for dinner but Sal being like YESYESYES like any other 12 year old would when offered a grilled cheese. Henry really did try his best.
• Gizmo is a therapy cat so he gets along great with traumatized kids. That's why he especially loves Travis and doesn't care much for Todd (healthy upbringing DEI hire), Sal tells him not to take it personally.

• The gang loves third-wheeling with Todd and Neil. Neil is like a cool step dad that drives you anywhere you need and gets you mcdonalds on the way there. He doesn't always understand the neurodivergent ass conversations the group has but he still fw them heavy.
• I used to think Sal wouldn't survive a mosh pit but since then I've become friends with someone who is below 160cm and fights tooth and nail with grown men 2 heads taller than her in the pit and comes out unscathed so I take it back. He throws a ziptie on the buckle of his prosthetic just to be safe (life hack for not getting mugged thank me l8r) and jumps into the pit with no fear of death. That evil little square where the ziptie loops into itself has probably cut his head open more than once but it's worth it in his eyes.
• I really don't think Todd is as boring as some of you make him out to be, I feel like he's one of those people to occasionally drop the wittiest jokes in the funniest most monotone delivery possible at the most unexpected moment. Idk the “that was the move that made LeBron cry” meme gives me his vibes. His parents are two chill as hell hippies, he might be very different from them but the values they taught him and the love and support they show him have always been apparent in his personality.
• Whenever Chug and Maple need a babysitter for Soda they just call chronically unemployed Larry, and Sal tags along most of the time too. They’re both great with kids and have so much fun playing the floor is lava and having tea parties and watching blues clues with her.
• Listen not to be reverse racist or anything but I don't think Sal's skin tone is very healthy I'm pretty sure he's anemic. That boy is too GREY his vision probably gets blurry if he gets up from his chair too fast. Get some more iron king please!!!!
