Grace is a 25-year-old full-time artist. She lives in an apartment that's being haunted by two ghosts: Theodore, a little Victorian boy, and Emma, a teenager that died in 2013.
She's the main character of this webcomic idea that has been fermenting in my brain for a while but for some reason I haven't named yet. So Unnamed Ghost Webcomic it is, for now.
Background
Grace moved into her ground floor apartment right after graduating college. It was decently furnished, the location was beautiful and the rent was ridiculously cheap, so she thought it was a miracle she was able to find such a place. What she didn't know, and what her scummy landlord neglected to tell her, was that the reason it was so cheap was its reputation for being haunted.
She thought it was funny when she opened a drawer and found tons of sheets of paper with johnlock fanfiction written on them, the poor thing had no idea what she was walking into. As she was moving in, one of her neighbors let her know bad things happen in that place and gave her a crucifix, which she accepted out of politeness despite not believing in the paranormal. That changed when she had her first encounters with Theodore and Emma, became terrified and started researching about exorcisms and spiritual protection.
Her attempt at a self-made spirit banishing spell did not work, but after a more formal introduction with her ghost roommates she realized they were harmless (if annoying). They both talked in a weird mix of 1880s and 2010s slang and mentioned diabolical words she hadn't heard in years, like "phan" and "oncest" and "I like your shoelaces." After some consideration, she decided living with them was better than trying to find affordable housing in the city.
Personality
Grace is very kind, easy-going and patient. She's very emotionally mature but also very introverted and big social gatherings stress her out, so she prefers staying at home working most of the time. Sometimes she thinks she's sort of boring for a person in her mid twenties, then she remembers how actually insane her living situation is and feels entitled to being a little boring so she doesn't go off the deep end.
She's also very thorough and ambitious, and usually on the brink of an anxiety attack. She takes her work very seriously and hates her plans being disrupted, but when they are she's very quick to find a solution no matter how strange. She's really adaptable and if she needs to get something done, she WILL get it done, even if it involves potentially committing a felony. As patient as she is, sometimes the ghosts are too disruptive and make her snap.
Relationships
Theodore
Theodore sees Grace as a parental figure of sorts. He's very curious about everything she does and is constantly asking her questions and watching her go about her day. Sometimes he likes to just be in her general vicinity while she does things, and she enjoys his company a lot since he's very peaceful when he's not in question-asking-mode.
She feels somewhat maternal towards him and is very easily manipulated when he asks to use the printer. Or the computer. Or to get a box of donuts from Dunkin.
Grace always knew she was an old soul but she never imagined she would have so much in common with a little Victorian boy. Sometimes they just sit around having a morning coffee and talking about the most boring stuff known to man, but it's entertaining to them.
Grace loves thrifting and has a major trinket-buying problem which is severely worsened by Theo, who is fascinated by every useless knick knack she brings into the house.
Emma
Emma shares a lot of the same interests Grace had as a teenager and she reminds her of her younger self in a lot of ways, so Grace understands her and empathizes with her a lot. Although they butt heads a lot of the time.
Emma can get frustrated at Grace's ground rules and say she doesn't let her have any fun. Grace is firm but also very understanding so they always end up reaching an agreement.
They have very different social battery levels and Grace is sometimes overwhelmed by Emma, but they still get along. Emma encourages Grace to let loose and step out of her comfort zone and Grace helps Emma be more grounded and responsible.
Talking with Emma often makes Grace reminisce about her old fandom days and they can spend ages nerding out together. This has made Grace reconnect with her inner child in a way, and be less afraid of talking about her interests.
Yet Unnamed Situationship
There's a girl Grace is seeing!!! but i haven't developed her yet. So i'm leaving this blank for now.
Trivia
- Grace loves thrifting, and sometimes she takes the ghosts with her. Emma will see some HIDEOUS t-shirt from the early 2010s and be adamant Grace buys it. She gets jealous because she always buys the little trinkets Theo likes but that's just because Grace loves little trinkets too.
- She had to ban the ghosts from touching the printer because one day she came home and got jumpscared by a life sized cardboard cutout of Jensen Ackles. And Theo had printed a ton of random images of like tomatoes and buildings and shit. Printer ink is expensive and she wanted to die.
- She is of Uruguayan descent.
